The Star Wars IP is poised to make a grand return on the big–and small!–screen in the future with new mainline movies and spin-off projects, but what’s going on in the video game department? Things have changed significantly over the last couple of years as more studios have gained access to the property, but the main takeaway is that the Star Wars galaxy continues to be an enticing place to explore.
Development is still ongoing for several Star Wars games, and like a crafty Sith lord, we’re certain other projects are hiding in the shadows and waiting for the perfect time to pounce. Sadly, Star Wars Hunters won’t be a part of that future as the mobile game didn’t survive long in the wild, but on a positive note, the fun adventure game Star Wars Outlaws will be headed to Switch 2 in September.
It’s not all good news, however, as the last year has been full of cancellations and studio closures that impacted various projects. Star Wars was no exception, as Respawn’s reported Star Wars FPS has now been canceled.
In case you need a refresher, we’ve updated our list on Star Wars games below and we kept the Bothan killcount to a minimum to get our hands on this intel. Here’s a closer look at what’s coming to PC and console in the future.
Knights of the Old Republic remake
It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Knights of the Old Republic remake, as between bouts of radio silence and original developer Aspyr being removed from the project, it was rumored that the game was no longer in development. Developer Saber Interactive separated itself from Embracer Group in 2024, and amidst efforts to secure a fresh round of investments, CCO Tim Willits stressed that development was still on and news on its progress will come at a later date.
Star Wars Eclipse
We haven’t seen anything related to Star Wars Eclipse since it was first revealed during the 2021 Game Awards, but it is rumored to be launching in 2026. The next game from Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream, Eclipse is described as a branching narrative-adventure set during the High Republic era. Players will get to explore an “uncharted region of the Outer Rim” and the game reportedly has an ensemble cast of characters.
Skydance New Media (Amy Hennig) Star Wars Project
Amy Hennig, best known for her work on the Uncharted series, has a new studio called Skydance New Media that has already landed some big projects with Disney. We’re still not expecting to see it for quite a while as the studio’s other game, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, has been delayed to 2026. Described as a cinematic action-adventure with an original story, this will be Skydance’s second announced project. No release date has been set.
Star Wars: Zero Company
First announced in 2022 as an untitled project, Star Wars: Zero Company was fully unveiled during Star Wars Celebration Japan this year. Set during the final days of the Clone Wars, the turn-based tactics game is being made in collaboration with Respawn, and development is being led by former XCOM art director Greg Foertsch.
What we do know about the game so far is that it is aiming to replicate the gritty feeling of the Clone Wars, and your main character will be fully customizable. If you’re looking to play the game and challenge your tactical skills, the game will also offer a permadeath mode.
Star Wars Jedi 3
With Fallen Order and Survivor creating a thrilling Star Wars epic in the modern era, the benchmark for Cal Kestis’ next adventure remains pretty high. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor raised the stakes for the wandering Jedi knight, and for the threequel, we do know that actor Cameron Monaghan will return to voice the fan-favorite character.
Beyond that, details on Star Wars Jedi 3 are locked up tighter than the toothpaste cabinet in Darth Maul’s home, so it’s likely still early in development for now. This will also be the first game in the series not directed by Stig Asmussen, as the developer left Respawn Interactive to build his new studio, Giant Skull.
