Fortnite Is Officially Adding The Witcher’s Ciri And Yennefer

Update: Confirming the earlier rumor, Ciri is indeed headed to Fortnite–and she’ll be joined by another character from The Witcher franchise, Yennefer. Both will be available in-game beginning on Friday, June 23, at 4 AM PT / 7 AM ET.

The image below reveals their in-game looks and the accompanying items that will be available, although official pricing has not yet been confirmed.

Original story: Ciri from the Witcher series may be coming to Fortnite as a character skin soon, serving as yet another collaboration with a popular franchise. This comes by way of a tweet from reputable Fortnite leaker, iFireMonkey (via Shiina).

“A Player Icon with her face was added in today’s update, and the icon is part of an encrypted set,” Shiina said on Twitter. The leaker notes that the skin will likely be available in the Item Shop “very soon.” However, the leaker didn’t mention any other specifics such as price point or when exactly the skin will be available.

If true, Ciri would be the second character skin added to Fortnite from the Witcher series, alongside protagonist Geralt of Rivia. Geralt made an appearance as part of the Chapter 4 Season 1 battle pass earlier this year. Epic Games has made a habit of including licensed characters as part of a battle pass, followed by selling a related character shortly thereafter. For instance, Spider-Man was available as a battle pass skin and then Green Goblin was sold in the Item Shop afterward, so there is precedent for this sort of marketing tactic.

Epic Games has yet to confirm whether Ciri will come to Fortnite, but given the Witcher’s popularity, her inclusion would make sense. The Witcher series has a massive fan base, bolstered by the recent Netflix series, as well as the video game trilogy. The third installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recently surpassed 50 million copies sold, making it one of the best-selling games of all time.
