Sony has a reputation for producing quality audio hardware, and if you’re looking to upgrade to the company’s latest tech, take a look at Sony’s WF-1000XM5 earbuds. Launching this Thursday, July 27, the latest iteration of Sony’s flagship Bluetooth earbuds is available to preorder now at Amazon for $298. The XM5s are launching with silver and black configurations.

So what makes the pricey 1000XM series so special? The big draw here is that they build on Sony’s excellent active noise-canceling, with the company claiming that this range has the best-in-class ANC. On top of that, XM earbuds have superb high-resolution audio, an AI-based noise reduction algorithm and bone conduction sensor for when you take calls, and a powerful new Integrated Processor V2 for a strong connection signal.

While these are incredibly light Bluetooth headsets, Sony says that they’re also durable and are water resistant for everyday use. If you’ve owned any of Sony’s premium headphones/earbuds, you’re probably already aware how well they tend to hold up. If you’re looking to pump in some jams while training, these earbuds should survive the sweatiest of ears. As for the battery life, you’ll have up to 24 hours of listening time between charges from the case, and Sony claims that you can get an hour of battery life from just three minutes of quick charging.

There are a few other good Sony headset options also available now. The previous generation of Sony earbuds, the XM4, are available for $278 and still pack a serious audio punch, while the more budget-friendly Sony Linkbuds S are currently discounted from $200 to $148. If you’d prefer on-ear headphones, the Sony WH-1000XM4 headset is just $348 and comes with a wireless power bank. Meanwhile, the on-ear version of the XM5 goes for $398 at Amazon.

For a more affordable audio solution, the Sony WF-C500 are a solid option. These $100, Amazon-exclusive earbuds are currently available for just $68.

Meanwhile, Amazon is currently selling the excellent Bose QuietComfort 45 Bluetooth headphones for $279, a $50 discount for one of the main competitors of Sony’s XM5 headphones.
